Sacramental Ministries

Extraordinary Ministers to the sick: Many members of our community are physically unable to participate in the masses held at our church. Specially trained ministers of the Eucharist visit and take communion, on request, to the sick and shut-in members of our community in private homes, group homes and hospitals. They are trained to perform short communion services for those Roman Catholics who would like to receive communion on a regular basis.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults): Non-Catholics are introduced to the beliefs of our Roman Catholic faith and may receive the sacraments of initiation upon their profession of faith. It is also open to those who have already been baptized in other Christian churches but who are seeking to become members of the Roman Catholic Church. Catholics are also invited to further explore and develop their faith journey through this program. The format of meetings includes reading, reflection, discussions, lectures, and prayer. The sessions begin in October and conclude during the Easter Vigil. Meetings take place in the church hall.

Sacramental Preparation: Our parish offers catechetical programs for children preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation. The preparation involves the participation of the children’s families and the co-operation of the schools. The programs take place from October to May. Please see the Sacraments section for further details. We are always in need of adult group facilitators. Training sessions are provided.
